A Love Story Created

Valentine’s Group Embroidery Project

Today I would like to take you on a tour of the creation process for one of my more recent patterns that I had created as part of the group embroidery project in the VK group. More than 40 designers took part in it and I am humbled and over the moon that I was able to be one of them. The task was to create a pattern design of a heart with specific measurements which could then be embroidered onto wooden hearts created for the project by the talented Elena Tolmachyová.

The Creation Process

The creation process of a new pattern is never easy. It starts long before I even turn to the graphical tablet and start drawing. I spend hour upon hour contemplating the motif. Then I sit in front of the computer searching for inspiration. In this case, I was inspired by a picture of a heart and two lovers. I started thinking what they could be looking at which is how I came up with the background of a sunset. Of course, I then tried out different variations of backgrounds, details, and colours (see my gallery). I think the final colour combination of the picture is magical. The sky shading gave me a bit of a hard time and I had to cut down on the number of colours in the end, but I think the result was well worth it. The sun’s reflection in the sea gives the design a unique twist. And the elements in the hair and clothes give the embroidery a sense of detail.

Finished Works

The Valentine’s group embroidery project exceeded my expectations. A lot of ladies participated in it and they all did a tremendous job. I appreciate the creative take on both patterns. Take a look yourselves. You can find the photos in my gallery.

How to Buy the Pattern

Nothing makes me happier than when you like my patterns. If you didn’t manage to take part in the group embroidery, don’t despair. You can buy the pattern in my online store. Since I enjoyed this concept a lot, I created another design that you can find at this link.

Did you enjoy this insight into the creation process of a pattern? Let me know in the comments. If you’ve bought the pattern and have already embroidered it, you can send me a photo to maria@stitchspider.com

I’m really looking forward to it.
